Belligerent LI Man Assaults Officer While Resisting Arrest: Police
Matthew Berman, of Rockville Centre, is charged with second-degree assault, police say.

HEWLETT, NY — A Rockville Centre man was taken into custody for assaulting a police officer. It happened on Wednesday morning in Hewlett.
Officers responded to a 911 call involving an irate man causing a disturbance at a location on Hewlett Avenue, police said.
Matthew Berman, 24, became physical and refused to follow officers' commands, detectives said.

While attempting to place him under arrest, one officer was taken to a hospital with injuries.
Berman was also brought to a hospital for evaluation.

He is charged with second-degree assault and will be arraigned when medically practical, according to police.
