Brian Curran Hosts Annual Run For Heroes 5K
Nearly 200 runners came out and raised more than $30,000 for local veterans' organizations.
From The Office of Brian Curran: On Saturday, Sept. 15, Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st A.D.) hosted his third annual Run for Heroes 5K at Hewlett Point Beach in Bay Park. About 190 runners participated in this year’s event, and the race raised more than $30,000 to be shared by six local veterans’ organizations.
“I am thrilled with the amount of money we were able to raise for such a great cause,” said Assemblyman Curran. “The Run for Heroes 5K is to honor our veterans, but also to raise money for our local VFWs and American Legion Posts that provide services for our heroes. We achieved both those goals this past weekend. Thank you so much to all who participated in the event and to those who volunteered their time to make the event such a success. We will now start planning as we look ahead to next year’s event in the hopes that we can raise even more for our local veterans.”
The following groups will benefit from the proceeds: Malverne American Legion Post, Lynbrook VFW, East Rockaway VFW, Rockville Centre American Legion Post, Lynbrook American Legion Post and Baldwin American Legion Post.
