Car Slams Into Elmont Home, Killing Driver: Nassau Police

The home had major structural damage and was deemed unsafe, police said.

ELMONT, NY — A driver was killed when his car rammed into a home Tuesday afternoon, Nassau police said.

The 22-year-old driver had to be extricated from the 2008 Chevrolet that lost control on Dutch Broadway near 238th Street, police said.

The driver, who suffered head and chest trauma, was pronounced dead a short time later at an area hospital, detectives said.

While the crash caused major structure damage, a 36-year-old man, who was home at the time, was not injured, police said.

The Town of Hempstead deemed the house unsafe.

The vehicle was impounded as, police said, their investigation continues.
