Mayor and two trustees are running unopposed.

The mayor and two trustees of the are running unopposed in elections to be held on Tuesday at village hall.
Mayor Andrew Parise, who has been mayor since 1995 and has served on the board since 1971, Deputy Mayor Benjamin Weinstock, a trustee since 1994, and Ari Brown, who joined the board in 2001, will be on the ballot.

“I treat every election as a regular election, whether it’s contested or not,” Parise said. “Everyone should come out and vote.”
The village has had hundreds of people turn out to support the current trustees in past uncontested elections, which Brown said is a sign that village residents are satisfied with the job the board has been doing. Both Brown and Parise pointed to Cedarhurst’s below 7 percent vacancy rate within its business district as a sign of the village’s success, as well as improvements made to the park, which was recently named after the mayor.

“Part of the reason we’re a successful village is because we work in tandem,” Brown said. “We’re there for our residents, and they’re there for us.”
Polls will be open between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. at Cedarhurst Village Hall. Other local villages will hold elections in June.
“They’re all very dedicated to the community, as well as the whole staff,” Parise said, referring to the board. “I think the people recognize that. I’d hope to think that’s why we’re not getting any opposition.”
