Cops: Man Who Stole from Roosevelt Field Also Stole Tax Refund Checks

Man charged with stealing from Bloomingdale's was also wanted for stealing checks from clients in Hempstead tax company.

A man charged with stealing at Roosevelt Field Mall was discovered to be responsible for a larger forgery crime, according to Nassau County Police.

Jerald Gadsden, 23, of Roosevelt, was charged with petit larceny at Bloomingdale’s Monday, cops said. Once arrested, investigators realized he was wanted for stealing tax checks from client’s folders, police said.

Gadsden and Stephanie Jeanborn, 22, of Elmont, were working at Liberty Tax in Hempstead when they took tax refund checks from client folders, cops said.

They took a total of 12 checks, deposited them into accounts at Nassau Educator Federal Credit Union, and took the cash out of ATMs, police said.

Jeanborn was charged with third-degree grand larceny and second-degree possession of a forged instrument on Sept. 2.

Gadsden faces the same charges of third-degree grand larceny and second-degree possession of a forged instrument. He was arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
