Couple Charged With Assaulting Homeowner; Officer Also Injured: Police

Errol Stewart was expected to be arraigned on Friday, while Camille Hyppolite is due back in court later this month.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — Two people were arrested for an assault after officers responded to a disturbance call involving the homeowner, police said.

It happened just before 3:30 p.m on Thursday on Kent Road in Valley Stream.

Errol Stewart, 37, of Springfield Gardens, and Camille Hyppolite, 35, of North Valley Stream, got into an altercation with a 47-year-old male victim, detectives said.

While placing Stewart under arrest, a police officer sustained an injury to her wrist. She and the male victim were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Stewart was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault and trespassing, police said. He was scheduled for arraignment on Friday.

Hyppolite faces a charge of trespassing, harassment and disorderly conduct. She was released on an appearance ticket and ordered back to court on June 22.
