Drunk Driver In Crash Had 12-Year-Old In Car: Nassau Police

Police say the child was unhurt and was released to his mother.

A Queens man was arrested in Valley Stream on Sunday after he was involved in a drunk driving crash with a minor in his car, police said.

According to police, officers were called to the King Kullen parking lot, located at 231 West Merrick Road, at 7:55 p.m. for a car crash. When they arrived, police say they found Christian Moliere, 36, of 221st Street, sitting in a black Lexus GS300, which had been involved in the crash.

Police say that Moliere had alcohol on his breath, slurred speech and glassy eyes. He was placed under arrest without incident.

An adult man and Moliere's 12-year-old nephew were in the car during the crash. The boy was released into the custody of his mother. No one was injured.

Moliere is charged with aggravated DWI (Leandra's Law), endangering the welfare of a child, DWI and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 5 at First District Court in Hempstead.
