East Rockaway PTA Member Gets Recognized For Charitable Efforts

EAST ROCKAWAY, NY — The East Rockaway Board of Education named a PTA member as the January Hometown Hero.

Alycia Fahrenkrug was selected for her volunteer work organizing the Rhame Avenue School Talent Show and Rock Rivalry. She also was instrumental in creating the "Honor Wall" at Rhame, paying tribute to military members from the community.

Each year, Fahrenkrug also participates in the district's Thanksgiving Food Drive, raising money and connecting with local businesses for donations.

It was a unanimous vote at the board's Jan. 17 meeting for Fahrenkurg to get the honor.
