Children INNvolved Event and Family Supply Drive

This will be a very special, hands-on time, that will help you teach your children how nice it is to help others – a precious lesson that is part of our holiday tradition.

Our hope is to get families talking about, and then involved in, helping out in their community. Whether it be to help to benefit a shelter, holding a fundraiser for a not-for-profit group of your choice, helping a neighbor, helping at home… there are so many ways in which you can help. When you help out with a cause that is close to your heart it can make positive changes in your life AND for those you are helping!

Here are a few ways for you and your family to get started:

Family Supply Collection
Parents and Kids: How about between now and July 1st, start going through your old clothes and toys, and talk to mom and dad about why you would like to donate a particular item. (Note to Parents: Explain to your child what "Children INNvolved" event is all about: Giving to other children. You are explaining to your child that donating something with which they no longer play will help them feel good about helping another child. Explain that the receiving child will like it just as much as they did, and how happy the other child will be knowing that it was from another child (just like them) that wanted them to have it. If your child is having a hard time parting with something, please do not make them give it up, but rather listen to their need for keeping it.)

Families that Bake Together...Work Together
This is optional – If you are a family that loves to bake, please make a dozen (or two) cupcakes to bring with you, but DO NOT FROST them. We will be providing the frosting for the older children to decorate the cupcakes. The cupcakes will then be given out to the guests eating at the INN the following day. Our goal is to make this a fun activity for the family. Enjoy the preparing/baking time with one another. Stay in the moment and have fun.
