Gregory Meeks,​ Ali Mirza​ ​Face Off Tuesday in Primary for Dem Nomination

Voters can head to the polls beginning at 6 a.m. to choose the candidate who will vie against Michael O'Reilly​ (R) and Frank Francois ​(G).

Local Democrats in the 5th Congressional District will be voting on which U.S. House of Representatives candidate to send into the general election this November during Tuesday’s New York Congressional Primary.

Incumbent Gregory Meeks, who was elected to the 5th district after the districts were redrawn in 2011, will be facing challenger Ali Mirza.

The fifth Congressional District covers mostly parts of Queens, but also covers some parts of western Nassau County including Inwood, parts of Valley Stream and Elmont (map).

You'll have to be registered as a Democrat at this address to vote. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Find your polling place here.

The winner of the primary will face Michael O'Reilly (R) and Frank Francois (G) in the general election.
