Gun Found In Vehicle After Man Stopped For Traffic Violations: PD
Shaquez Erwin, who was taken into custody early Monday in Inwood, faces several charges, Nassau police say.

INWOOD, NY — While a man stopped for traffic violations early Monday, police located a loaded silver handgun on the car's floor, behind the passenger seat, detectives said.
Shaquez Erwin, 24, was placed in custody near the Nassau Expressway and Bay Boulevard, Nassau police said.
A substance was also discovered in his right pocket that is believed to be crack, detectives said.

Erwin was taken to the 4th Precinct where he was arrested without further incident, police said.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in Hempstead on charges of criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and several vehicle and traffic law infractions, according to police.
