On Sunday, October 22, 2023, the Chabad of Hewlett and Hewlett United for Israel sponsored a workshop/class for Hewlett High School students led by StandWithUs where the students learned about Jews being indigenous to the Land of Israel (as seen in archeology going back 2000 years); that Jews never completely left the land and always yearned to return; the rise of the Zionist movement; Arab and Palestinian efforts to eradicate and terrorize the Jewish population in 1948, 1967, 1973 and continuing through the second intifada (2000-2005); and the rise of Hamas, leading up to the terror attack this past October 7. The students also helped pack clothes and supplies for Israeli soldiers and for citizens displaced by Hamas's attack and the war it ignited.
