Hewlett Neck Passes Flat 2012-13 Budget
No changes were made to the fiscal plan; office salaries are raised 2.5 percent.

The Hewlett Neck Board of Trustees adopted a $290,000 budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year, the same amount it appropriated for the 2011-12 budget .
The village plans on having approximately $100,000 left in reserves at the end of this fiscal year, a portion of which will be applied towards the budget next year.
“Hopefully next year's winter season will treat us as nice as this year's did,” Mayor Stuart Troyetsky said. “Exactly what our cash reserves will be by the end of this year, we are not sure, because the year is not over yet.”

To match Woodsburgh and , the board agreed to increase office staff salaries 2.5 percent, up from a 2 percent raise last year.
Village Clerk Marie Velotti, who also serves Woodsburgh and Hewlett Bay Park, explained that “The tax levy is the same because the budget is the same.”

Some residents' taxes might not go up depending on their assessments.
Neighboring Hewlett Bay Park adopted a $588,495 budget for 2012-13, similar to last year's, while Woodsburgh kept their fiscal plan much the same at $648,215.
The Hewlett Neck board next meets on May 7.

- Village elections will be held on Tuesday, June 19, at the . The board also voted to appoint election inspectors and approved renting a voting machine for $150.
