Hewlett Point Beach Closes To Swimmers

The county Department of Health says it will remain closed to bathing until bacteria levels in the water are acceptable.

MINEOLA, NY — Elevated bacteria levels shut Hewlett Point Beach in East Rockaway to swimmers on Friday, the county Department of Health said on its website.

Philip Healey Beach in Massapequa remains closed as well.

Both beaches will stay shut until testing indicates samples are within acceptable limits of bacteria, the department of health said.
