High Bacterial Levels Closes Nassau County Beach
East Rockaway's Hewlett Point Beach is shut until samples are at safe levels.

MINEOLA, NY — Despite the high temperatures on Wednesday, beachgoers in East Rockaway will have to temporarily find another spot.
The Nassau County Department of Health has closed Hewlett Point Beach in East Rockaway.
Unacceptable levels of bacteria caused the shutdown, the county said.

It will remain closed to beachgoers until testing samples prove safe for everyone to return to the water.
