House Fire Hurts First Responders: Police

WOODMERE, NY — A home in Woodmere was engulfed in flames on Monday afternoon.

The home on Mosher Avenue was unoccupied at the time, police said.

The Woodmere Fire Department was assisted by the Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Hewlett, Inwood and Valley Stream fire departments in extinguishing the blaze.

Three firefighters were injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

The fire is not being considered suspicious, but the investigation is ongoing, the arson squad said.
