Inwood Man Arrested After Stealing Phone At Knifepoint: PD

LAWRENCE, NY — An Inwood man is facing a robbery charge Wednesday after he was accused of robbing a man of his cell phone at knifepoint, police said.

Nassau County police said 32-year-old Edwin Alvarado was in North Lawrence in the early hours of Tuesday morning when he approached a 25-year-old man while holding a knife and demanded the man turn over his phone and wallet.

A brief struggle ensued between the two men before Alvarado ran off with the 25-year-old’s cell phone, police said.

After an investigation, police said Alvarado was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery. His arraignment, police said, will take place Wednesday.
