Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department Helps Fight Valley Stream Blaze
Department helps put out fire at apartment building.

Firefighters from the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department helped battle a blaze that started in a Valley Stream apartment on Monday morning, according to police.
A resident, a police officer and two firefighters were treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation and then released, police said. One firefighter was treated at the hospital for a sprained ankle and another firefighter was treated for a broken thumb. Both have been released.
The fire, which started around 4:40 a.m. on North Central Avenue, was extinguished by 100 firefighters from the Valley Stream, Elmont and Lawrence-Cedarhurst fire departments with 13 pieces of equipment, according to police.

The fire has been deemed non-suspicious and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
