Lawrence resident honored for essay saluting veterans

Stop & Shop’s Bob Young and historic re-enactors from the Museum of American Armor welcome twelve year-old, Asmita Jaiswal, and her mother, Patti Devi of Lawrence, to the American Armor Museum in Old Bethpage. They were among the contest participants recognized by the Museum of American Armor for an essay that Asmita wrote saluting the heroic efforts of U.S. military veterans. Asmita and other participants in Stop & Shop’s “Operation Hometown Heroes” program were given the opportunity to ride aboard the museum's historic armor vehicles thanks to a joint effort coordinated by Stop & Shop, Nassau County and the Armor Museum that invited customers to write about the heroes in their own families.
