Voters Easily Approve Lawrence School Budget

Lawrence residents headed to the polls Tuesday.

Lawrence residents approved a 2016-17 school budget on Tuesday.

The $99.5 million budget was approved by a margin of 970 to 360. The budget is a 1.01 percent spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 0.11 percent hike in the school tax levy.

Voters also elected Michael Hatten (with 1,028 votes), Tova Plaut (with 1,008 votes) and David Sussman (with 1,002 votes) to the Lawrence Board of Education.
