LI Nurse Praised For 'High Level' Of Dedication
The Town of Hempstead Supervisor presented a citation to a 14-year veteran of Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A nurse at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital has been recognized for her excellence with patients.
Jyothis Joy, a nurse at the hospital for 14 years, was presented with a citation by Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin.
"It was an incredible moment for me," Joy told Patch.

She calls the citation a motivating factor "to keep the high level of dedication to my job."
Joy also was received a Daisy Award, given to nurses who go above and beyond in their patient care. She received 27 nominations from patients in a three-month period.

"It comes from the patient's heart," she said.
Joy, who lives in Franklin Square, works on the surgical and post-operation units.
"They may forget your name, but they never forget how you made them feel," Joy said.
