Lifeguards Honored For Life-Saving Efforts at West Hempstead Pool
The two were honored by Town of Hempstead officials at a recent Town Board meeting.

TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD, NY - Two lifeguards were recently honored by local Town of Hempstead officials for saving the life of a person at a West Hempstead pool.
Hempstead Town Supervisor Anthony Santino, along with Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby and Councilman Gary Hudes, honored lifeguards Hempstead resident Stephen Foran and Levittown resident Kristie Ferrentino for their life-saving efforts at a Town Board meeting last Tuesday.
Town Clerk Nasrin Ahmad, Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin and Parks and Recreation Commissioner Mike Zappolo were also present at the ceremony.

“Our Town of Hempstead lifeguards are second to none and perform an enormous task of keeping our pools and beaches safe,” Santino said.
Foran and Ferrentino immediately jumped into life-saving action one evening at Echo Park Pool in West Hempstead.

They resuscitated and stabilized a person in distress who was then transported to the hospital.
“I commend Stephen and Kristie for their heroic actions and am appreciative of all of our lifeguards who keep a careful watch,” Goosby said.
Santino presented the two with Town of Hempstead Distinguished Service Awards, a distinction reserved for those involved in a life-saving effort, as well as Town of Hempstead Citations.
“I am extremely proud that Stephen and Kristie are part of the Hempstead Town workforce, and I am grateful for their life-saving efforts,” Hudes said.
