Loaded 'Ghost Gun' Recovered From Vehicle In Inwood: Police

INWOOD, NY — A man was taken into custody on Monday night after an unregistered firearm was discovered in his vehicle, police said.

Shemar Freire, 22, of New Jersey, faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon.

Police stopped Freire's black 2019 Honda Accord just before 10:30 p.m., traveling south on Sheridan Boulevard at Doughty Boulevard with excessive window tints.

An investigation revealed cannabis and a loaded semi-automatic unregistered "ghost gun" were inside the vehicle, detectives said.

Freire was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday in Hempstead.
