Long Island’s First Miniso Could Be Coming To Valley Stream

The Hempstead Industrial Development Agency announced Tuesday that it had approved a lease for a Miniso at Green Acres Commons.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Long Island got one step closer to its first Miniso opening Tuesday, as the Hempstead Industrial Development Agency approved a lease for the retailer to come to Green Acres Commons in Valley Stream.

Based out of Guangzhou, China with flagship stores in New York City, London and Hong Kong, the retail chain offers products from home goods to plushies to “blind boxes” — boxes containing one of any number of small collectible toys, often from a specific franchise, with the buyer finding out which item they’ve bought when they open the package.

According to the IDA, the Miniso would take over a 7,200 square-foot location in Green Acres, with eight full-time-equivalent employees and an hourly wage of $18. Once opened, the Valley Stream Miniso location would become one of more than 7,800 Miniso locations worldwide and one of more than 300 in the United States.

It would, however, be the first Miniso on Long Island, the IDA said.

Tuesday, the IDA said the approved lease was still subject to execution by Miniso, and said no opening date was available.
