Man Attacks Woman During Kidnapping In Nassau: Police
The man punched her, struck her with a pipe, stole her money and smashed her phone, police say.

LAWRENCE, NY — A man was arrested after Nassau police said he kidnapped and attacked a woman in Lawrence on Monday morning.
Officers were called near Hollywood Avenue around 4 a.m. for a domestic disturbance, police said. A woman told officers she was attacked by Christian Leiva-Aguilar, 19, of Inwood, police said. Officers found Leiva-Aguilar driving on Lawrence Avenue and arrested him, police said.
Leiva-Aguilar picked the woman up earlier in the morning, and the two argued, police said. He repeatedly punched her in the face and refused to let her get out of the vehicle, police said. Leiva-Aguilar threatened her multiple times, smashed her phone with a pipe, hit her with a pipe, and stole $300 from her, police said.

The woman called 911 after escaping, police said.
Leiva-Aguilar faces charges of second-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

He appeared Monday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
