Man Charged In Five Towns Burglary Spree Dating Back To 2021: Police

Police say Edwin Griffin is responsible for 15 burglaries in the area since Dec. 2021.

CEDARHURST, NY — A man was been charged in connection to a spree of burglaries in the Five Towns.

Edwin Griffin, 59, was taken into custody at 4:45 a.m. Sunday after exiting the backyard of a home in Cedarhurst, authorities said.

Griffin became combative and violent while resisting arrest, injuring two officers in the process, police said.

One officer and Griffin were treated at an area hospital.

The subsequent investigation linked Griffin to 15 other burglaries dating back more than a year.

Griffin faces charges that include 15 counts of third-degree burglary and three counts of third-degree burglary. He was expected to be arraigned on Monday.
