Man In Custody For Stealing Multiple Cars From Auto Shops: Police

MINEOLA, NY — A Queens man faces charges connected to a spree of auto burglaries in the Five Towns.

Ingmar Connell, 32, was arrested on Monday for a burglary at the Cedarhurst Department of Public Works building on Feb. 22, police said.

Connell was also taken into custody for the following vehicle thefts:

  • Feb. 5 at 2:13 a.m. -- County Auto Repair, North Lawrence -- 2014 Ford F250
  • March 2 at 6:15 a.m. -- K&G Auto Garage, North Lawrence-- 2008 Chrsyler Town & Country Mini Van
  • March 3 at 2:30 a.m. -- Raymour & Flanagan Warehouse, North Lawrence --Freight delivery truck
  • March 24 at 12:30 a.m. -- County Auto Repair, North Lawrence -- 2011 Infiniti M37

Detectives also uncovered that Connell had removed a power washer and equipment from Reis Motors Car Dealership in Lawrence on March 1 at 3:40 am.

Upon Connell's arrest at his residence, he was found in possession of the key fob for the stolen 2011 Infiniti M37, police said.

He was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday on burglary, grand larceny, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, according to police.
