MINEOLA, NY — An East Rockaway man was arraigned this week on charges of stockpiling an arsenal of ghost guns in his home, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced on Friday.

Thomas Saxton, 34, faces charges that include 10 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted of that top charge, he is looking at the potential maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, the DA's office said.

"The defendant is accused of stockpiling an arsenal of ghost guns and high-capacity magazines in his East Rockaway home," Donnelly said in a statement. "The volume of firearms seized in Nassau County this year is unlike anything we’ve seen in recent memory. We will use every tool at our disposal and collaborate with every federal and local partner to stem the flow of these illegal weapons into Nassau County."

According to Donnelly, members of the NYPD responded to an apparent domestic disturbance in February at Cohen Children's Hospital in Queens. Saxton had a handgun and threatened to kill his wife, the DA's office said in a news release.

During the investigation, additional weapons were discovered at Saxton's home. Nassau police recovered seven ghost handguns; two assault rifles, one of which was a ghost gun; more than 60 high-capacity magazines; ammunition and ghost gun parts, Donnelly announced.
