Police say the man was armed with a knife when he went behind the counter and emptied out the register.

A Far Rockaway man was arrested Tuesday Morning after police say he robbed a store in Lawrence and attacked the clerk behind the counter.
According to police, Adam Berardino, 34, of Beech 25th Street, entered Petancito Latin Grill, located at 250 Lawrence Ave., at 7:15 a.m. Police say he lifted up his shirt, showing he had a knife. He walked behind the counter, police say, and demanded cash, then pushed the 36-year-old woman who was working there and punched her in the back of the head.
Police say Berardino took money from the register and fled on foot. After an investigation, police say the police officers located Berardino in an abandoned house on Lawrence Avenue and placed him under arrest. The knife was recovered with Berardino, police say.
