Man Struck Teen In Head With Chain: Police

Police say the teen was hit when she tried to break up a fight between the man and one of her friends.

A Far Rockaway man was arrested Monday evening after police say he started a fight with a group of teens in Inwood and then struck one of them in the head with a chain.

According to police, a group of teens were walking in front of 88 Doughty Blvd. when Allan Lopez Villeta, 19, of Mott Avenue, pushed one of them. One of the teens, a 13-year-old girl, tried to stop the other teen and Villeta from fighting. As she did, police say Villeta picked up his bicycle lock chain and struck her in the head. Villeta then fled on his bicycle, police said, but later returned to the scene, where he was placed under arrest.

The girl was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a large cut to her head. No one else was injured.
