Man Taken Into Custody In Connection To Burglary Spree: Police

NORTH VALLEY STREAM, NY — A string of burglaries may have been solved in the Five Towns.

Police say Carl Esposito, 58, of West Hempstead was arrested on Feb. 5 in connection to six burglaries in December.

The last incident took place on Dec. 14, when a man threw a rock through the front door of Kathy Nails on Cedarlawn Boulevard in North Valley Stream, detectives say.

He was unable to gain access to the shop and fled the scene in a previously stolen 2014 Jeep, police say.

An investigation led to Esposito being taken into custody.

Police say he is responsible for the following incidents:

  • Dec. 2: Village Motors Used Cars, Valley Stream (Grand Larceny)
  • Dec. 7: Top Nail & Spa, Woodmere (Burglary)
  • Dec. 10: Captiva Hair Designers, Hewlett (Burglary)
  • Dec. 14: China Wok, North Valley Stream (Attempted Burglary)
  • Dec. 14: Comfort Hair Salon, Valley Stream (Burglary)

Esposito was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Hempstead. He has 38 previous arrests with 36 convictions, according to police.

Esposito was last arrested on Feb. 5 for burglary, was released without bail and fitted for an ankle bracelet by Nassau County Probation.
