Nassau County To Begin West Broadway Work Next Week

Drainage problems will be addressed first. The road is scheduled to be repaved in 2018.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announces that West Broadway — which runs through the Hewlett, Cedarhurst and Woodmere communities — will be restored as a part of Operation Restore Our Roadways.

The first phase of restoration will begin next week, and continue for several weeks, with two drainage projects aimed at addressing flooding concerns. These drainage concerns must be addressed prior to milling and resurfacing the county’s portion of West Broadway, from Broadway to Rockaway Turnpike. Milling and resurfacing is expected to take place in 2018.

"West Broadway is a major artery for the Five Towns and these improvements will help mitigate flooding concerns while restoring the roadway for commuters," Mangano said.

The restoration of West Broadway was originally included in the 2016 Capital Budget; however, the bonding for the Capital Budget was not approved by the Legislature at the time.
