A Nassau County teacher has pleaded guilty to charges that he raped a former student, but won't face any jail time in a deal worked out with prosecutors, according to reports.

Newsday reported that Daniel McMenamin, a former teacher at the Lawrence Woodmere Academy, pleaded guilty on Monday to second-degree rape and second-degree criminal sexual act.

McMenamin, who lives in Valley Stream, was arrested last October after his ongoing, three-year-long sexual relationship with a student at the Lawrence Woodmere Academy came to light. McMenamin started abusing the girl in November 2014, when she was only 14, and continued until July 2017.

According to Newsday, McMenamin will be sentenced to 10 years probation, will lose his state teaching license and will have to register as a sex offender.

After news of McMenamin's arrest broke, another former student of the Lawrence Woodmere Academy came forward and told her story of an inappropriate relationship a former teacher had with her. It led to the headmaster of the academy, Alan Bernstein, stepping down from his position.
