Nassau Woman Dies After Being Run Over By A Car
Police say the car was backing out of a driveway and ran over the woman. The driver stayed at the scene and called authorities.
A Valley Stream woman was killed Wednesday afternoon after a car backing out of a driveway ran her over.
According to police, a 47-year-old woman was backing out of her driveway on Arkansas Drive at 2:40 p.m. As she was backing out, she drove over a woman who was walking on the sidewalk.
Police say that once the driver realized what happened, she stopped and immediately called police. The victim -- Sarwari Tabassum, 62, of Valley Stream -- suffered severe injuries to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by Nassau County Police paramedics.

Police administered a brake test on the car and determined it had adequate braking ability. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
