900 Feet of Aging Water Main to be Replaced Along Pepperidge Road

Merrick, NY (October 5, 2020)—New York American Water is investing $300,000 to replace 900 feet of aging water main with new eight-inch ductile iron water main along Pepperidge Road in Hewlett Harbor. Scheduled to begin October 6, 900 feet of new water main will be installed between Everit Avenue and Azure Place. New York American Water will also replace 12 service lines as well as a fire hydrant.

“Replacing aging water mains is critical to our mission of providing quality, reliable water service to our customers,” said New York American Water Director of Engineering John Kilpatrick. “The replacement of this infrastructure allows us to achieve a higher degree of customer satisfaction while modernizing our system and strengthening its resilience for the future.”

The Pepperidge Road water main replacement work is expected to take four weeks to complete. All construction will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Residents should note that sections of the street where construction is taking place may be closed to traffic during these working hours.
