Officers Sent To Hospital After Arresting 2 People With Gun: PD

The man and woman, who were approached in a parking lot making suspicious movements, had a loaded handgun in the passenger seat, police say.

WOODMERE, NY — Two police officers were injured during an arrest in Woodmere.

It happened early Saturday, but Nassau police sent the release on Thursday.

The officers were patrolling when they spotted a black Mazda SUV parked in a closed lot at the Doxy Brook fishing park. As they approached, a man and woman in the backseats were making suspicious movements, police said.

One police officer discovered a loaded black and silver 9mm handgun on the floor of the passenger seat, detectives say.

A foot pursuit was started when the man took off. Tevon Johnson, 22, of Brooklyn, was taken into custody following a brief struggle, police said.

The officers were treated at area hospitals.

The woman, Lisa-Marie Coalbrooke, 23, Rosedale, stayed at the scene and was placed into custody without incident, detectives said.

Johnson faced multiple charges, including second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of assault.

Coalbrooke was charged with two criminal possession of a weapon counts and criminal possession of a firearm.
