Passenger Killed, Car Overturns In Drunken Nassau Crash: Police

Aaron Cooper faces charges that include manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, police said.

NORTH WOODMERE, NY — A drunken driver crashed early Saturday in North Woodmere, killing the passenger, Nassau police said.

A 2023 Toyota lost control and overturned at 4:30 a.m. on Rosedale Road near the intersection of Lawrence Court.

The 22-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Aaron Cooper, 26, of Lindenhurst, was arrested without incident for driving while intoxicated.

Cooper, who was transported to an area hospital, is also charged with second-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree assault and reckless driving.

He'll be arraigned when medically practical.
