Police Offering $5,000 Reward in Swastika Spray Painting Incident

The graffiti was found painted on the pillars of a Cedarhurst parking garage on Monday.

CEDARHURST, NY - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter announced on Tuesday that Crime Stoppers will be offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest of the person responsible for the spray painting of two swastikas in a parking garage in Cedarhurst.

The owner of a Maple Avenue building discovered the swastikas spray painted in red paint on pillars of a parking garage on Monday at about 10:30 a.m.

The graffiti was painted sometime between Friday, March 25 at 4:30 p.m. and Monday morning, police said.

“The Nassau County Police Department is currently investigating this bias crime and we are optimistic the Crime Stoppers reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest will provide an incentive to anyone who may have information that would be helpful to the NCPD in solving this despicable crime," Mangano said. "Nassau County will not tolerate these detestable acts and will continue to investigate and apprehend those responsible for such hate crimes.”

In 2014, an arrest was made after Mangano and Crime Stoppers announced a similar initiative and reward after discovering 11 incidents of anti-Semitic graffiti on three Five Towns LIRR station platforms.
