VALLEY STREAM, NY — A Valley Stream man is in custody for a robbery that took place on Monday afternoon.

Police responded to a road rage incident with a 56-year-old male victim, who used his cellphone to record the man arguing with him. It was at that time, police said, the man punched the victim in the face and forcibly grabbed the cellphone.

The man fled in an unknown direction.

Officers arrested Damian Turner, 39, a short time later, and placed him under arrest, police said.

He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday in Hempstead on a second-degree robbery charge and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Turner was also charged with criminal contempt from a prior case, according to police.
