Nassau Man Arrested After Being Shot By Police Officer
BREAKING: The man was arrested after he went to seek treatment for his gunshot wound.

The Nassau County Police Department arrested a Hempstead man on Friday morning and charged him with fleeing an accident after he was shot by a Hempstead police officer earlier in the week.
The man, John Green, 27, of Harvard Street, was arrested at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow after he went to get treatment of his gunshot wound. Green was shot in the leg by a Hempstead police officer early Monday morning during a traffic stop on Harvard Street.
When asked why the police officer shot at Green, a Nassau County Police Department spokesperson said, "Something occurred and sadly that's what [the officer] needed to do."

The Nassau police said that they were checking hospitals in their search for Green, expecting him to seek treatment for his leg. Eventually, Green went to his parole officer, who took him to the hospital, which is how the police found him.
Green was charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer and leaving the scene of an accident without a report. He was released on an appearance ticket and is due back in First District Court in Hempstead on June 1. However, Green is being held and charged with a New York State parole violation on a signed warrant from the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. He was arraigned on Friday in First District Court.
