Sanitary District No. 1 Announces Enhanced Sanitation Services On Erev Pesach, Friday, April 22, 2016

Take advantage of these enhanced services

Sanitary District No. 1 has announced important information for special garbage collection services put in place on Erev Pesach (eve of Passover), Friday, April 22, 2016. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this enhanced service to rid their homes of every bit of chometz as families prepare for the Seder and Passover.

“The District has been offering this valuable community service to our residents for the past two years and it has been very successful,” said Sanitary District No. 1 Chairman James Vilardi. “We understand Erev Pesach can be a busy day of holiday preparation for our Jewish residents and this expanded collection service aims to help alleviate a level of stress during this eventful time.”

Residents looking to take advantage of the expanded collection services on April 22, 2016, should be aware of the following opportunities:

Drop-Off Disposal:

· Residents are encouraged to drop-off trash to garbage trucks that will be parked by the Lawrence and Cedarhurst Long Island Rail Road stations, Young Israel of Woodmere and Temple Hillel in North Woodmere from 7:00am to 2:00pm.

All Day Pick-ups:

· There will be all-day pick-up services available throughout the Five Towns for trash placed at the curb in securely tied garbage bags between 7:00am and 1:00pm – please do not store tied bags in garbage cans.

Pick-up by Request:

· Residents can request a trash pick-up during the hours of 7:00am and 1:00pm by calling 516-239-5600. Residents should be advised that Sanitary District No. 1 cannot guarantee an exact time for pick-up.

“We are grateful for the support we have received from the community, particularly from the numerous rabbis throughout the Five Towns, in helping to organize this important community service,” said Sanitary District No. 1 Commissioner Irving J. Kaminetsky.

Sanitary District #1 provides sanitation and recycling services to approximately 16,000 commercial, institutional and residential properties throughout the Villages of Cedarhurst, Hewlett, Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Harbor, Hewlett Neck, Inwood, Lawrence, Woodmere, Woodsburgh and portions of the unincorporated areas of Lynbrook and Green Acres.
