Hello, people of Five Towns! It's me again, Jacqueline Sweet, your host of the Five Towns Daily.

Drivers who pass a stopped school bus will soon face penalties thanks to school bus cameras in Nassau County. A woman in Elmont has a sink hole in her front yard and, she says, no help to fix it. People are pitching in to help the employees of the two Long Beach businesses destroyed in a May fire.

  1. Nassau County has approved three measures to install school bus cameras to record drivers who pass stopped buses. After a warning period, fines for passing buses will be $250 for the first violation, and then $275 and $300 for second and third violations committed within 18 months of the first. (Patch)
  2. News 12 talks to an Elmont resident who is dealing with a sinkhole in her front yard. The hole is five feet wide and eight feet deep. (News 12)
  3. Keldy Ortiz reports on efforts to raise money for employees of two Long Beach businesses destroyed in a May fire. Sorrento's and Abyss Fine Art & Tattoo Studio were both destroyed and Monday's raffles raised funds for the small businesses' employees. (Newsday)
