'Severe Damage' To Elmont CVS After Woman Mistakenly Drives Into Pharmacy, Police Say

Police say a woman crashed into a CVS in Elmont Saturday afternoon after she meant to hit the brake pedal but hit the gas instead.

ELMONT, NY — The Town of Hempstead Building department is investigating structural damage to an Elmont CVS this week after a woman mistakenly hit the gas pedal and drove into the building, police said.

Nassau County police said a 64-year-old woman was driving her 2013 BMW just after 2:00 Saturday when she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brakes, accelerating into the CVS located at 1797 Dutch Broadway.

While no injuries were reported, police said an investigation was ongoing with the Hempstead Building Department assessing "severe damage" to the pharmacy.
