Shots Fired In Elmont; Shell Casings Found In Roadway: Police

Four shell casings were found after a man reported hearing gunshots, police say.

ELMONT, NY — Gunshots were fired in Elmont on Friday morning, Nassau police said.

Officers responded to a Shot Spotter call on Baylis Avenue near Parkway Drive around 4:20 a.m. where a man, 50, said he heard five loud gunfire sounds, police said. Four 9mm shell casings were recovered in the roadway, police said. No injuries were reported. Police are investigating.

Detectives requested that anyone with information on the shots fired call the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800–244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
