Military Jets Shake Western Nassau, Queens
An explosion-like sound, caused by the president's military escort, shook homes all over the area surrounding JFK.

UPDATE, 4 p.m.: NORAD has stated that the noise was not from their aircraft, which are enforcing a no-fly zone over New York.
The no-fly zone is part of security for the United Nations General Assembly meeting. A NORAD official said that while the defense group has aircraft in the area, they are not F-22s, and they are flying too high to be heard.
ORIGINAL STORY: Military aircraft escorting Air Force One shook buildings across Queens and western Nassau County at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

After hearing the sound, people took to social media to try to figure out what was going on. The explosion-like noise caused confusion until it was revealed to be from the jets.
The boom has not officially been classified as a sonic boom, which is defined as the sound associated with the shock waves created by an object traveling through the air faster than the speed of sound, but the NYPD has confirmed that it was caused by two military F-22 aircraft flying over the area.
