South Valley Stream Among 'Best Places to Live'

Niche.com has released its 2016 Best Places to Liverankings.

Los Alamos in New Mexico came in at No. 1 nationally and New York towns were shut out of the top 100 list.

But drilling down to the state level, Long Island towns fared quite well. Six of the top 10 places to live in New York are on Long Island, according to the rankings.

Nassau County dominated the list with a total of 35 local towns ranking as the top places to live while Suffolk County had a total of three local towns making the list.

South Valley Stream was among the Long Island towns to make the list, ranking at 78th.

The rankings take into account several key factors of a location, including the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics, and access to amenities in an attempt to measure the overall quality of an area, Niche says. Read more about the methodology here.
