Lawrence Elementary School Honors Veterans Day

LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 2023)—Lawrence Elementary School students honored Veterans Day with a series of meaningful classroom activities and lessons aimed at educating students about the importance of honoring and appreciating veterans. The school’s initiative aimed to instill a sense of gratitude and respect among students toward those who have selflessly served their country.

Lawrence Elementary School’s principal, Jacqueline Beckmann, expressed her pride in the students’ engagement and their willingness to learn about the significance of Veterans Day. “It is crucial for our students to understand the sacrifices made by veterans and the importance of expressing gratitude toward them. Through these activities, we hope to instill a sense of appreciation and respect that will stay with our students throughout their lives.”

As part of the commemoration, students were encouraged to express their creativity by creating acrostic poems, which allowed them to reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans. The poems served as a powerful medium for students to convey their appreciation and understanding of the significance of Veterans Day. Lawrence Elementary School students also participated in a lesson-writing activity, where students personally thanked veterans for their service.
