Two-Alarm Fire Damages Lawrence Pizzeria: NCFM

LAWRENCE, NY — A two-alarm fire broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning at a pizzeria on Central Avenue in Lawrence, fire officials said.

Per the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office, the fire broke out at 3:33 a.m. and was first responded to by the Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department. Fire officials said the firefighters raised a second alarm after finding that the fire had spread into a neighboring store in the same row of businesses, with fire departments from Elmont, Freeport, Hewlett, Lakeview, Rockville Centre, Valley Stream and Woodmere coming to the scene.

In addition to the 150-person crew of firefighters, there were also fire marshal’s office personnel, Atlantic Beach Rescue and fire marshal drone teams on the scene to assist with firefighting operations and check for hot spots, fire officials said.

After about 90 minutes, the fire was under control without injuries, fire officials said. The Village of Lawrence’s building department is investigating damage to the pizzeria while the county fire marshal and NCPD arson/bomb squad are investigating the cause of the blaze, officials said.
