UBS Arena Outlines Debut Week
The new venue will hold a ribbon-cutting on Nov. 19.

ELMONT, NY — It's opening week for the UBS Arena.
The new home for the Islanders will hold the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 19. Speakers from UBS, the arena, the Islanders and other dignitaries will join the program.
That same day, the UBS Arena Foundation launches with a private fundraising benefit.

The foundation's mission is to make the community stronger by supporting career development, health and wellness and the arts.
The evening includes meet and greets with Islander greats Bobby Nystrom and Ken Morrow and private tours of the arena.

The Islanders open the UBS Arena on Nov. 20 when they take on the Calgary Flames. Doors open at 5 p.m. Face-off is at 7:30 p.m.
In honor of the opening game, the Empire State Building, Pier 17 at The Seaport and the Nassau County Dome at the Legislative Building will be lit in Islanders blue and orange on Saturday night.
