Valley Stream House Fire; 1 Resident Hurt, Hospitalized: Police
The fire started at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A fire on Wednesday caused a Valley Stream resident to evacuate the property.
The fire started on the top floor of a home on East Avenue just before 2:30 p.m.
The male resident, 34, attempted to extinguish the flames, but was unsuccessful and exited before the fire departments arrived.

He sustained minor burns on his hands and smoke inhalation. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The Valley Stream Fire Department got the fire under control. It is being investigated.
